Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Fundraiser

I was contacted last week by a lovely woman, who is the co-coordinator for "Mended Little Hearts of Charlottesville" in VA, about a fundraiser they are having. The fundraiser is to raise CHD awareness. It will be held on February 7th at the UVA Medical Center. For more information, please check out their website at www.mlhcharlottesville.org.

For those of you who do not know what CHD is, it is Congenital Heart Defect. CHD is the second leading cause of death for children 15 and under. 9 babies out of every 1,000 births will have some form for congenital cardiovascular defect. Approximately 36,000 babies are born with CHD every year, and about 1,000,000 Americans born with CHD are still alive today!

This tugs are my heart strings in many ways, and I was so happy to be asked to be a part of it.

My HodgePodgerie has donated iron-on heart patches for the fundraiser, and I have also loaded them to my Etsy shop.

Have a heart...look into congenital heart disease. Become aware. Give. And if you are blessed to know someone with CHD, hug them. xo

I don't know about you, but at this time of year, I get anxious. Anxious to have the new year start and get a renewal, a second chance, a do-over, so to speak. When the new year starts, it brings in magic and hope. To be better, live better, create more, get organized! The War Eagle Fair is the "grand-daddy" of them all! Located along the banks of the War Eagle River, the fair has grown to include approx. 260 vendors and welcomes over 180,000 visitors throughout the weekend! Stained glass, leather, basketmakers, woodworkers, sculptures and lots of other handmade arts & crafts available (and of course, goodies by My HodgePodgerie and Amy Poss - Possibilities). We'll be located in one of the large white circus tents! Stop by and say hello!! Its going to be a great weekend!
